Nordic Skiing

About

The Nordic Skiing (or cross country) program is year-round and includes traditional adaptive on-the-snow trainings and dryland trainings, such as roller skiing, mountain boarding and Nordic walking.

Trainings take place in the Wasatch Front area, including Mountain Dell, Soldier Hollow, White Pine and City Creek.

Trainings

We offer 2-3 times per week training sessions that focus on the fundamentals of skiing skills while emphasizing balance, technique, strength and endurance. Nordic ski equipment is provided for both sit-skiers and stand-up skiers with physical disabilities.

The program also utilizes gym-based training with our Wellness program.

Racing

If participants are interested in racing or higher levels of training, the TRAILS cross country race team is fully integrated in the Wasatch Citizen Series (WCS) offered by the Utah Nordic Alliance (TUNA).

These are local races throughout the winter and skiers have full race support from TRAILS staff.

Biathlon

The TRAILS Nordic Skiing program also supports biathlon. We utilize the Ecoaim optical shooting system, which is safe and easy to set up in any session to add the biathlon component in the training.

 Nordic Skiing Equipment

TRAILS has a huge variety of cross country frames and accessories that will fit the needs of any adaptive participant.
